Open Question: Bipolar and Struggles?

In June 08, I was diagnosed with bipolar, and I think I was misdiagnosed with depression 1.5 years ago.My undergraduate years in college was difficult. In my first diagnosis and hospitalization, I stopped taking my meds because my parents and sister told me that I don't need them and I did not have insurance. After a few months, the symptom were coming back but I thought i was the problem and believed I can will my self out of the situation. I did not fully believe I had a mental illness. I could not concentrate, getting myself to study is difficult, and I did not believe in myself. I cried every the time and prayed to God to heal me. I spent several hours a day on the computer. Slowly, My life has changed to no motviated, depressed, and negative. A week after my college graduation, I was hospitalized and found out I had bipolar. My goal is to receive into medical school and I have been having trouble studying for the MCAT. I been studying for it more than a year but finally took it in Sept. 08. I will retake it. I thought the problem was just me and I was not focused. Now I realized that being bipolar has made school harder for me. Currently I am taking Lamictal but only 25 mg. I don't like meds but I think I need them. I don't take them every day. I ordered my meds two weeks or more ago and I have not received them. I have only one left. What hurts me the most is the inability to live up to my full potential? I don't mind working difficult but it is tough to stay motivate and without a will to succeed. My mom tells me I changed. What should I do, change ...?

Open Question: Hey girls do you think this guy is attractive?

He never seems to have any girls interested in him and he's starting to receive very depressed about it. He's starting to think he's incredibly ugly and he has given up any wish of meeting a girl. Open Question: Burning semen problem please help?

Hi. As a quick sidenote both of us have taken STD tests and gone to general practicioner Docs for this. I want to try this without condoms to look if there is an allergy but we are trying to receive pregnant and running fifty clinical trials at my age would eat up a lot of our time. Basically, when I ejaculate inside my wife she says that she feels a severe burning sensation. From what I've read she could have an allergy to my semen or my semen's composition could be off (salinity or basicity) or she could have an infection or vestibulitis. My diet consists of mostly salty foods, meats, some grains, and lots of water. I ingest very little fruits or vegetables. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to self diagnose what is wrong. We do not have the finances in the current market to look a specialist and GP doc's don't diagnose us correctly as they claim there might be a recurring yeast infection which there is not. Also, I used to receive a burning sensation when I masturbated and semen backed up into the urethra. I have had multiple STD tests and they've every arrive back negative. Is there any easy way anyone can arrive up with to look what is the cause of this issue? I hear semen allergies are rare and there is no response when oral antihistamines are taken. I guess I could change my diet for a few weeks to look if my semen is too basic or salty. Any other tips?

Open Question: My loving dogs killed a cat?

I have a doberman pincher and a german shepherd. Today i came home and i went to let the the boys in the yard. I noticed a tiny furry animal on the lawn, so i went to check it out, and sure enough its a cat. I called the number on the tag, and it belonged to a family down the road. They said they want to prosecute against my dogs, and receive them put to snooze because they are " killers" My doberman is very sweet, and would never hurt anyone... not even a thief. My german shepherd on the other hand, is very sweet, but very protective towards everyone in the family. I am almost positive that my doberman was playing with it, and the cat attacked it in self defense, and my german shepherd took it as a threat, and attacked. The cat came onto MY property. Do my dogs have the right to this ( it was an accident) What will happen? has this happened to you or anyone you know? Will my boys receive put to snooze?

wwwooooowwwww.......... this is the perception of so many contributors on answers..... i was reading old questions about puerto rico and this was an actual response from a top contirbutor about the status of puerto rico.... 1. we sudsidize US prosperity... 2. for every war in the 20th century and since generations of men have been sent to battle for a country as cannon fodder, who despises them ... truly- look it up.... 3. everyone seems to think we were handed citizenship on a silver platter, wow... we have been consistently marginalized and abused... 4. we are in the position now to where we have to work within our means to improve the situation and free our minds from the divisive nature ignorance promotes.... 5. i am- for the record- very proud of both my american and puerto rican self.... now my question is.... what can be done to correct the misinformation out there? to change the percepetion that we have not contributed? to remind people that we have astronauts and artists same? what can we do to explain to people that we are not the tax money leach? that we support US prosperity with the largely unfair tax laws that promote an unstable economy with regards to our industrialized state?

Open Question: Why does my mom do this?

Without a doubt in my mind, I know my mom loves me. We didn't have that great of a relationship growing up, but deep down I know she cares. Especially since I moved away a couple of years ago for college. Our relationship is perfect now...except for one thing. I've always had mega bad self-esteem and I never understood why. I had a fairly normal childhood. My confidence is a lot better now after meeting different people during college and whatnot. I thought I've finally gotten over my bad self-esteem until today. I came by to visit my family today and decided to attend church with them and be my mom's moral support since she was performing. She introduced me to her friends. When her friends complimented me, she would always find something to counteract the compliment. For example, when her pal said I was "beautiful," my mom would respond by saying that it's not true because I need to lose weight. Or that my hair is too short. Or that my skin is bad. I really don't care about other people who compliment me, but when my mom insults me like that in public, it's so hurtful. Why can't she just accept the compliment and thank them? Why put me down in front of them? So I just sat there the whole time trying not to sob. That is the reason why we didn't receive along when I was growing up. If a stranger came up to us at the grocery store and said that she had a gorgeous daughter, she would say that I need to lose weight. That was about 10 years ago and I really thought she'd kick that habit, but 10 years later, I am still in that same spot. I've done good for myself. Graduated from UCLA, 24, about to enter medical school. Seriously, most of my friends are either married with 2948729842 kids or at a dead end job. Why can't she just be proud? When guys complimented me, my often favorite answer would be this: "Are you blind? Or drunk? Cuz I tihnk you're crazy." Now I understand where I got my low self-esteem from. So my question is this: Why does she always do this to me? Is it her way of being modest? And how do I go about talking to her about how I feel? I don't think she realized how much it hurts me. Open Question: Advice for an insecure 21 year old guy?

I'm really insecure and self conscious with myself. I've had girlfriends in high school but recently, I've been in a dry spell...Whenever I look a women who really interests me, I don't do anything about it and end up regretting it later. I guess my main fear is rejection or being embarrassed. But if I've had girlfriends 4 years ago, women would still think I'm okay looking right? Do I just need to go up and talk to them? How can I be less awkward and weird?

Open Question: Thoracic Outlet Syndrome specialist?

I've been battling what appears to be TOS. Right now we aren't conclusive on whether it's arterial or neurogenic. I need a specialist in the issue that practices in the DFW TX area, preferably closer to Fort Worth than Dallas, but I'm running out of time and already lost my job over it, next comes the home. I had a dozen dang MRI's, every unremarkable for degenerative changes to the structures of my spine both soft and difficult, atleast at the level of where the numbness would be coming from. Every time we order an MRI it's for a section of spine, my assumption is the radiologist is overlooking elsewhere and only identifying issues (if any) for the spinal section the MRI was ordered for. I had an EMG, a little more painful than the MRI's but still no answers. I've seen two chiropractors, two orthopedic surgeons, two physical therapists and most recently the neurologist for the EMG. I'm getting nowhere quick and running out of time for insurance coverage. I know it's stupid to self diagnose based on the internet's questionable validity but every the symptoms fit and the other day my chiropractor did a Rides(no idea how to spell it, couldn't find specifics) test. It was a test of pulse in both arms at various positions both relaxed and exaggerated. Left arm showed significant restriction when in a self supported over head test. I read TOS can arrive from car accidents, which I was in one about four years ago and a combined head on collision impact of about 85mph. Also the most significant symptom commonality was the numbness/tingling in the ring and pinky fingers most common in the early morning hours right before/after waking up. This nailed it on the head because the only time it would ever be numb was right as I was waking up, it was often what woke me up. So, long story short, this is the only real diagnosis that gives any real answers. Now I need a specialist to give me some difficult evidence or some relief. Chiro is against surgery, neuro RX'd Neurontin which I found to be no fun, ortho hasn't returned call for a CT, so I'm moving on to a new doctor that won't dismiss me as just out of shape or pressure point irritation. If you don't know a specific doctor that would be best for the situation, atleast tell me which specialty to address the issue to. Ortho? Neuro? maybe Cardio? Any thing, I'm out of ideas and sleepy of being ignored.

Open Question: What to do with 2 boys and 1 girl?

My pal recently got dumped by her boyfriend. They had been going out for over a year and they broke up out of the blue. Their relationship was going real smooth until her boyfriend started acting odd. He didnt respond to her calls, he didnt go on many dates with her and eventually he broke up with her. She was devastated. But over time she came back to her normal self. After she broke up with him she realised that she started to receive feelings for another one of her friends. She didnt "adore" him but she did like him and her feelings for him only grew stronger. But the timing sucked. As she was starting to receive feelings for him, her ex called and asked her if they wanted to receive back together and that he was unsure.... She asked me today: What would i do? Would you go for your Ex...who you still had strong feelings for...or would you try something with this new guy? Open Question: Does my theory on god seem right?

I believe that we might actually be in hell right now. When people that have had close Death Experiences, say they appear in darkness, well maybe that were we actually exist right now. Think about it, this world isn't real. Why? Well we look and feel the world by are senses. This is what humans interpret as real.I believe that are face only exists in this realm. That are body is a figment of are imaginations, and is very real. Since Satan has us down in that darkness, he basically controls us. That is why praying is never answered. The people who have faith, and believe til the day they die will be saved from that darkness, and the people who don't believe or have faith will be there for ever or until they find a way to escape. This world is the dark lords way to keep us from believing. He knows man is very sinful, and loves material things, so he has us imprisoned in the dream world. So basically Satan has won, mankind. The only way we can escape is to accept Christ, and your lord and savior, and to believe. If you don't believe you'll be left to fend for your self, in the devils domain.

Open Question: How do I break this relationship?

I have this girl I think I really adore. We've been together for about one year now and she's great. We agreed to receive married but I'm now developing icy feet. The problem is the faith/spiritual differences between us. She is a "Born-again Christian", while I am not. (Actually, I have been there before -- long before I met her -- but I am now quite liberal in every matters of religion). When we initially met, she seemed not to mind our spiritual differences. But over time, I look her trying to forcefully influence me to change. I am slowly understanding that she accepted me into her life with the wish that I'll eventually change and ascribe to her faith. I have made some adjustments in my life, many of them positive. I managed to reform my drinking habits (from excessive to one or two beers in a month). I attend church once in a while. But that's as much as I can do. While I adore this lady, deep down I think this relationship is doomed because it is based on wishful thinking or self-deception on her part. Eventually she'll be disappointed because she'll realize that deep down I'm still the same me, and haven't changed much to the ideal me she wants. My question is, how do I break up this relationship without hurting her much? I want her to leave with every her self respect and esteem intact. Any advice is appreciated.

Open Question: should a three year old girl be allowed to climb a tree?

i left my child with a trusted family pal.When my daughter came home she had a huge rip in a pair of wooly tights and i was told she was allowed to climb the trees in the garden and she fell out.Thankfully not hurt. I have not said a word to my pal as i was really mad at the time and thought id better leave it untill i cooled off. Now im wondering if im being over protective but my gut instinct is 'she should definitly not let her climb the trees its realy irrisponsible and i would never let her kids put them selves in danger. If I am qualified in this area (which I am) would it be possible to self fund research and make money from it? Such as writing research papers and posting them online or getting them published? Not necessarily make money from it, just for interest sake also.

There is this Man I like and I believe he Likes me too this is what happened (1)he asked me out (I said yes) 2)we live in different sates, he was going to came every the way so that he could look me and His dad (3) I had to delay our fist date so that I could look My sick grandmother overseas (4)He got distress and he got drunk and called me at 1am asking me were I was? and If I had a boyfriend or If I was married (he thought that I didn’t want to look him) & he wanted lady to chase after him for once and adore him because he is sick of ruing after them (5)the next day I called him and he was self-conscious about what happened I said it was ok. I promised him that I would call before I go, he said that he would really like that But he said that he Might not answers his phone on that day since he would have no connection were he was going (he was going camping). I said that I would Email him he said he does not check his face Book Messages too often. He said you could try to call me ….I said Ok, I didn’t call him when I left and I sent him and Email instead. He asked why I did not call him so I told him that I liked him and that I was not playing around (6) HE SAID THIS >>>>Honey i know your not playing around i just want you to know that as well.. i want to look you just as much as you want to look me honey cant wait to know when your back and safe hun!! ALWAYS Thinking of you babe (7) After every that he was not on line for “2months”, he was never on face book, and he did not keep in touch with me on face book. I wrote him another Email after that asking him if he was ok and saying that I was worried about him. He did not answer. he was on line a week ago and I know that he saw that “Email” and I just came back from overseas and I saw on his face book wall that his friends noticed that he was busy. Open Question: Is it wise to further studies when economy's looking bad?

As we know, economy's heading south and a recession is lurking. Many people are expecting a crisis and for some, it has already impacted on them. I was initially planning to take up Masters in Journalism overseas next year and currently am wondering if this is wise after every. Why I wanted to go: 1) My objective for furthering my studies overseas is for the sake of self-fulfillment. It's fulfill my dream of spending a few years overseas and to attain higher educational qualifications. And I'd rather go while I'm still young. 2) An overseas experience may open doors to other opportunities. 3) Possible overseas internship and networking, as well as bumping up my resume for my prospective employer in the future to know that I'm adaptable and resourceful. The cons: 1) I have a stable job that I like (journalist, but not doing difficult news, which is my ambition) and if I'm going to further my studies, I'll have to give it up. Is it wise to do that when unemployment rate may start to rise? 2) The degree that I will receive after 2 years of studies won't significantly improve my chance of employment (as a journalist) in the future nor give me higher salary negotiation power. 3) I will not have income during my course of study and will be using up my savings. I'd really like to hear from you... what do you think? Jack Two>> Thanks for your input! Open Question: I am learning Spanish, tips?

Can anyone give me tips on learning it. I know quite a bit, but i feel like i am learning it very slowly. I am a very quick learner, i pick up things easily. I got pronounciation down perfectly, its just a matter of grammar, vocabulary and the past,gift and future tenses. I work with mexicans and i try to pick up as much as i can from them, but i feel like the whole process is sloooww I got a self learning book and a dictionary. What are some good practices i can do to speed up the process?

Open Question: Getting in shape with jujutsu...?

Over the past few years I've been losing a lot of weight and getting onto a healthy lifestyle.. I was 5'8" and 212 pounds when I was 15. I'm now 5'10.5" and 170 pounds at 20. Over this past summer I did a lot of cardio training at home with simple running, jogging, walking, etc. I also did some strength training but nothing superbly intense.. more or less to build strength and stay strong rather than to "receive jacked". I've recently been really interested in taking a martial arts session (a long one, as in 6+ months and likely far beyond that) at a local middle training jujutsu. I want to learn it for three main reasons; (A) to receive in better shape, (B) to gain self defense techniques, and (C) strengthen my mind and focus abilities. How good of an art is jujutsu for getting into better shape and shedding those last few pounds that seem to linger after a long exercise and diet regimen? I've heard that Brazilian Jujutsu is superb for this, but I'm looking to train in Japanese Jujutsu. Is there a big difference in the A/B/C aspects listed over? Thanks much.

Open Question: Weird dream about the Sprouse Brothers! Can some interpret it?

Has anyone ever heard of the sprouse twins? Well ever since I was watching the suit life on deck with my little brother I had this odd dream. I dreamed I was standing in this green grassy field. I looked forward, and seen Cole Sprouse, and Dylan Sprouse, just standing there in front of me. Remember the second X-Men movie, were Professor X is being tricked into seeing him self standing by that one guys son, well this is what happened to me a little. When I said they were standing there it was like there were just a figment of my imagination. What I mean by that is there were standing completely still, and slowly leaning slightly forward, and then back. There mouths were moving to were it looked like they were gonna talk but didn't. I remember saying "What" To them, and then they just smiled. Please don't take me as a weirdo. Can someone please give me there opinion to this dream? Is was so odd, and real!

Open Question: anxiety/panic attacks ruining my relationship, and social life.?

so ive had panic/anexity/depression issues ever sense i was 13. i am 17 now and in my jr. year and high school. my panic and anxiety has always been off and on, it really started to effect me about 2 years ago. it would be about a 1 month or 2 and i would have a difficult time going places with out having panic attacks. then for 5 months i would be fine, i could go any were do anything by my self or with friends, with absolutely no problem. i could be gone as long as i wanted with out having a panic attack or being worried that something bad would happen. its always been like that. but now its been really bad for about 4 months i dont do anything, i sit inside blowing everyone off, because no matter were i go i have panic attacks. ive tryed leaving with friends and going alone, its no different i still panic. ive been seeing a councilor for a long time now. and alot of people tell me to take medication, but i want to battle this on my possess. and he tells me what i should be doing but its just to difficult. and now its effecting my relationship with my girlfriend. shes always been there for me and she understands what im going through. we seem to battle more and we never really make plans to leave, we always do something at her home or mine. she says she understands and that she is here for me. and she is, and hearing her say that makes me fell like im letting her down, knowing that i cant go places with her or go out on special dates, its even difficult to find something special to do on our anniversary. and my anxiety is really effecting my social life with friends, i rarely do anything with my friends, besides talking to them in school. school seems to be the only place i can go with out totally panicking. even then i still have little issues. i wish it would every just go away, the panicking the anxiety, the constant worrying. it went away on its possess before when i had issues with it, now it just seems like it will never go away. when ever i go some were im always anxious. does anyone know what i sould do? also my councilor has mentioned that he thinks i am partly suffering from agoraphobia. i just dont receive why im like this, the only thing i have done different this time around is that i started smoking pot, i did it for about 2-3 months, and decided to quit after noticing i was blowing things off because of it, could this havemade my panic attacks worse this time around? cause it feels like im never going to receive over it. and to make matters worse i gained about 30 pounds from staying inside for months. i use to be out side every the time doing something, skateboarding/hanging with friends/walking every over town. and now i can barley leave a block from my home with out freaking out.

Is there a certain name that can describe a person who isn't insecure or self-conscious, one who doesn't care about how others think of them, or about how someone physically looks. Someone who doesn't change the way they look so others will like them more, someone who doesn't follow fashion or trends. Someone who is not at every shallow. Sooooo, I have super messed up teeth, like every I have on the top is my two front teeth, Im missing my two on the sides of the front teeth and the canine teeth are coming in right now. Im 14 and my teeth are really ugly, and Im very self conscious, should I just try to hide them with my lips when I talk/ grin? I am in the process of having them fixed, but I cant have nice teeth until im 18. Should I hide them until then?

Open Question: how do i lose weight?

I am 14 years old, weigh 148 lbs and am 5 foot 5. I want to lose 20-25lbs. I want something that will work and last and won't take an extremely long time to achieve. My self esteem is around the zero mark right now and my weight is making it worse. I'm not afraid of excersize, I just can't find the time and i don't know the proper exersizes to do. I'm the most self concious about my arms, then legs, then stomach. Help!
